MT5 MAGIC NUMBER ANALYZER

MT5 Magic Number analyzer

Upload an MT5 account-history or Strategy Tester HTML report and isolate the trades assigned to each Magic Number. Recalculate performance for one EA instead of judging every strategy by the combined account balance.

PURPOSE-BUILT ANALYSIS

Turn a mixed MT5 account into EA-level evidence

Several EAs can trade on one account while deposits, manual deals and different symbols share the same Balance. Magic-number filtering separates automated strategies and rebuilds their profit, drawdown, months, streaks and timing.

01

EA-level recalculation

Select one Magic Number and recalculate the metrics and curve from its trades rather than only hiding other table rows.

02

Symbols and directions

Combine Magic with instrument and long/short filters when one EA trades several markets or a number was reused.

03

History and live continuation

Audit exported history once, then use MT5 monitoring to follow new deals, positions and Equity on the same account.

PUBLIC MULTI-EA EXAMPLE

MultiFXbot MT5: one account, strategy identifiers and live exposure

The public MultiFXbot MT5 monitor shows why mixed-account analysis needs strategy identifiers. Completed deals and current positions can be reviewed by symbol, direction and Magic Number while the account-level Balance and Equity timeline remains visible. The source updates as the collector runs, so the example links to its current state rather than freezing an obsolete account value.

What a Magic Number can separate

An Expert Advisor usually attaches a numeric identifier to the orders and deals it manages. When every EA uses a distinct value, the account history can be divided into strategy-level trade sets. Backtest Lens uses the parsed Magic Number as a filter and recalculates the closed-trade analytics for the selected set.

  • Compare each EA with the total mixed account.
  • Review profit, Balance drawdown, months, streaks and timing after filtering.
  • Keep cashflows such as deposits and withdrawals out of EA profit.
02

When Magic alone is not enough

A reused number, Magic 0, manual trading or missing fields can make attribution ambiguous. Add symbol and direction filters, inspect comments and review individual deals before assigning the result to one robot. A clean naming and Magic convention in MT5 makes every later report and live monitor more reliable.

  • Do not assume Magic 0 means one unique manual strategy.
  • Check whether several EAs reuse the same value.
  • Document the mapping between EA, account and Magic Number.
03

From exported history to live monitoring

An HTML report is useful for a one-time audit of completed operations, but it does not update and cannot recreate old floating Equity. MT5 monitoring continues the record with new deals, open positions and account snapshots. Magic filters describe the trade components while Balance and Equity preserve the whole-account capital context.

  • Use account history for longer realized evidence.
  • Use live monitoring for current positions and Equity.
  • Compare every EA with portfolio-level risk before allocating capital.
SCOPE AND LIMITS

What this analysis does not prove

  • Reliable separation depends on the EA writing a consistent Magic Number into the source data.
  • Account-level historical Equity drawdown cannot always be attributed to one Magic Number after the fact.
  • Filtering a small number of trades can produce unstable metrics and does not prove future performance.

FAQ

Questions before you upload

What is a Magic Number in MT5?

It is an identifier attached to orders and deals so an Expert Advisor can distinguish its activity from other automated or manual trades.

Can one account contain several Magic Numbers?

Yes. That is the main use case: each number can be reviewed separately and compared with the combined account result.

What if the EA uses Magic Number 0 or no distinct number?

Use symbol and direction filters as supporting evidence, but attribution is less reliable when multiple systems share the same identifier.

Are deposits included in EA profit?

No. Account cashflows are kept separate from the trading result so funding changes are not presented as EA performance.
